The story of Globe shoes begins with three ambitious brothers from Australia: Stephen, Peter, and Matt Hill. These brothers were deeply immersed in Melbourne's underground skateboard scene in the late 1970s, where their passion for skateboarding was born. As the 1990s rolled around, the Hill brothers found themselves involved in the licensing and distribution side of the streetwear fashion explosion. This era also saw the rise of surf-influenced apparel, which further fueled their entrepreneurial spirit. It was during this time that the Hills decided to create their own skate footwear brand, Globe shoes. Initially, Globe shoes operated solely within Australia, but in 1997 the brand sponsored two international pro-riders, Chet Thomas and Rodney Mullen. This partnership catapulted the brand into the global spotlight and they became of the leading skate shop brands of the 1990s and 2000s. Globe shoes has continued to thrive in the industry, however, not content with just being successful, they are committed to innovation and sustainability, including partnership with the National Forest Foundation which focuses on planting new trees to replace the ones used in the production of their skateboard products, showcasing their dedication to environmental responsibility. Collaborations with some of the hottest names in the surf and skate industries, including Wasted Talent (with a number of custom versions of the popular Globe Dover model), Former, and pro skateboarder Austyn Gillette continue to see them elevating the brand to new levels.
