Skateboard fixings, also known as 'hardware' or 'bolts,' are crucial in securing your trucks to your deck. These fixings come in two types: allen key or philips (screwdriver style) tops, and the choice between them is a matter of personal preference. Fortunately, most skate tools available in the market cater to both types. The length of the bolts you choose is particularly important. If you don't use riser pads, 7/8" bolts would be perfect. On the other hand, if you use larger wheels and have a riser or shock pad between your trucks and deck, you'll need longer fixings to accommodate these components. In addition to length, many bolt brands also offer a variety of colours. Some bolts come with one, two, or even more coloured bolts in pack. When used in the end truck holes of your board (usually at the nose) these coloured bolts serve as a quick visual indicator to determine the orientation of your board at a glance, especially since most popsicle decks are virtually symmetrical.
